The Mercedes-Benz Metris comes in two basic body styles, taking the form of either an 8-seat Passenger Van or a Cargo Van. The Cargo Van eliminates the rear side windows while increasing the maximum payload, while the Passenger Van offers three rows of seating for up to eight people. Both vans are powered by a fuel efficient 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. The Metris is capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds, with a payload of 2,500 pounds.
The Metris starts out simply equipped with 16-inch steel wheels, manual mirrors, dual sliding rear doors, a USB and Bluetooth-equipped radio, remote keyless entry and air conditioning. Standard safety features include driver and front passenger airbags, 3-row curtain side airbags, anti-lock brakes and Mercedes' Crosswind Assist that helps keep the vehicle on track when strong side winds threaten the taller van's stability.
The options list on the Metris is extensive, and include a choice of standard or extended wheelbase, vertical or twin horizontal opening rear doors, power-operated sliding side doors, a navigation system, a multifunction steering wheel, heated front seats and automatic climate control. The Metris is designed for city drivers and appropriately, Mercedes offers several options that take much of the stress out of driving in the city. A standard start/stop function helps save gas, while parking sensors, a rearview camera, or a full parking assistant makes parallel parking in even the tightest spots a snap. In addition, the Metris features the tightest turning radius in its class.
Safety is aided by standard stability control, traction control and anti-lock brakes, while six standard airbags help keep the driver and the passengers safe in the event of a collision. The Passenger Van comes standard with additional airbags for rear seat passengers. Optional safety features include blind spot and lane keeping assist functions, a collision prevention assist system, an alarm and a reverse warning device.

The Mercedes Metris carries over with minimal changes for 2022.
The Mercedes Metris prides itself on being just about the right size for urban businesses that still need a vehicle with plenty of space and utility. The Metris is big on the inside, but ultimately on the outside it has a manageable footprint. It isn't too wide for narrow streets, and parallel parking is still possible. Further adding to the value of the Metris are 15,000-mile service intervals, meaning it will spend less time in the shop and more time doing its job over the life of the vehicle.
