Kia has been excellent at building cars that seem more expensive than they are. The EV6 is the latest entry. The EV6 is powered by an electric engine, the rear-wheel drive model produces 167 horsepower in the Light trim, 225 in the Wind and GT-Line trims while the AWD model increases the horsepower to 320. With an acceleration of 0-60 MPH in 4.6 seconds the Kia EV6 is quick and nimble.
The range on the EV6 is estimated between 270 and 310 miles depending on the trim. Kia claims a gain of 217 miles of range with only 18 minutes of fast charging.
Standard equipment across all EV6 models include LED headlights and daytime running lights, dual zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, AM/FM/HD stereo with 14 speakers, Bluetooth, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, cruise control, rear parking sensors, and 5 USB ports.
Stepping into the Wind trim adds ventilated front seats, 14-speakers, proximity key, 120V AC power outlet, front and rear parking sensors, and a power liftgate. The GT-Line features sport pedals, a garage door opener, head-up display, surround view cameras, left and right blind spot view, and a sport steering wheel.
The new GT trim has a more powerful version of the electric engine producing 576 horsepower with a range of 206 miles. It features a sport suspension, larger front and rear ventilated brakes, 21-inch wheels, sport bucket front seats, sport pedals, and a heated sport steering wheel.
Safety features across the lineup include 7 airbags, an active lane departure system, forward collision mitigation with cross traffic, rear collision warning, traffic information system, pedestrian detection, and a driver attention alert.
The EV6 made its debut in 2022, for 2023 it adds a new GT trim to the lineup but otherwise carries over with minimal changes.
The Kia EV6 make its debut in the sport crossover category. The EV6 competes against the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Volkswagen ID.4 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5. With its driver-oriented cockpit, advanced technology, and stability enhancing wide-track suspension the EV6 is here to compete.
